Uttrakhand is known as Dev Bhoomi and after my visit to Uttarkashi, I realized why it’s called so !! The beauty of this place can not be described in words but through my videos and blogs, you will surely have a glimpse of it.
Most of the people visit Uttarkashi during the Gangotri Yatra. During my one-week stay at Uttarkashi, I realized there is so much to explore here. One such place I explored was Kedhi Waterfall. Before visiting this place, I checked few online reviews of the place and they were all really great. In this blog, you will get everything to know about Kedhi Waterfall along with some amazing pictures and video links as well. Read about latest guidelines to visit Uttrakashi here.
Where is Khedi Waterfall
Khedi waterfall is located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River and is the only waterfall listed on Barahat Range. The waterfall is not natural, rather it’s the outlet of overflow discharge of the Maneri hydroelectric project on the Bhagirathi River.
How to reach Kedhi waterfall
Khedi waterfall is on the way to Maneri Dam from Uttarkashi. The Village Maneri is around 9 km from Gangori village of Uttarkashi and is easily drivable through National Highway 34. Route to Maneri is quite picturesque with the Bhagirathi river flowing along the road and Majestic mountains in the backdrop.
Khedi waterfall is one major attraction when visiting Uttarkashi. I stayed in Gangori village during my visit to Uttarkashi, which is closer to Maneri. Check out complete review of homestay here. I visited the waterfall twice, during sunny days and once during the rains. Believe me, during rains the route to Maneri is even more breathtaking. The entire valley gets covered in clouds and at the waterfall, you can literally witness cloud formation if lucky !!!
What makes Khedi waterfall unique
I have seen many waterfalls in my past trips but this one was really different. The force of water is tremendous, you can hike down to the waterfall but I don’t think that would be possible without a raincoat. Not just this, be careful if you plan to do so, because of the huge water force there is no chance of any mistake.
Near to waterfall, there is one shop where you can enjoy tea and snacks. Along with the shop, there is a way to the 2 levels viewpoints for the waterfall. Do capture some shots from here, it’s really a picturesque location. You can go one more level down viewpoint, keep a raincoat if you plan to stand for long.
Don’t listen to what they, go and see it**
