Srinagar is home to some of the most beautiful Mughal Gardens of all time. Though the beauty of Gardens is in bloom during summers, my visit was during the Winters. This Information is from my recent trip to Jammu and Kashmir or the Jannat E Kashmir.

If you are planning to visit Srinagar in the coming few months then read all about COVID-related information you should know, here.

Cheshmashahi  (The Royal Garden)

Chashma Shahi is primarily famous for fresh Spring and is a must-see in Srinagar. Tourists visit this attraction to drink water from the spring which is said to have medicinal properties. Even during Summers, the water from this spring is too cold, as told by locals.

Winter view

It is a three terraced garden through which natural spring water flows. On the top terrace is a small hut is built which is the main source of the spring. It’s not allowed to go near the kund so be careful when stepping in to taste the water.

Shankaracharya temple

The temple is built on the top of Shankaracharya Hill and we climbed almost 200 to 250 stairs to reach the top of the hill. Temple overlooks the beautiful city of Srinagar from the height.

No camera or phone is allowed inside the temple so it’s advisable to leave them in your car only. Before entering the temple gate, proper checking is done by Army personnel.

In the premise of the temple, is a small room where Shankaracharya mediated. During your drive to the temple, you will get a birds-eye view of the Dal Lake with a huge number of houseboats

Entry Fee

No Fee. Just keep climbing the stairs 😀
