Best time to visit Devkund?

During monsoon, the waterfall is at its peak which looks absolutely stunning. However, many accidents have been reported here during monsoon. It would be better to visit post-monsoon or rather checking weather department advisory before going. Due to the shape of the hill, the water level rises quickly so avoid traveling during heavy rains.

Can the trek to waterfall be done on own?

No. Many drowning incidents have been reported while some people tried to visit this place on their own. Hire a guide at Bhira, they would charge 100-200 Rs maximum. They know the routes well and can also tell you facts about the village and waterfall.

Trek Details?

Level: Moderate
Duration-1.5 to 2 hrs from starting point
Distance-6.5 km approx
Endurance required-medium

The trail begins from the open parking area at Bhira. From there you have to walk up to the village. Once you reach the village, you will come across food stalls, have some food and start climbing. The path is well laid with direction boards set up. A short trek of around 2 hours will lead you to waterfall.

Considering some accidents reported in the past, it is safer to take a guide with you. Devkund means bathing pond of god, hence we must respect the belief of villagers by not disturbing the environment or littering anywhere.

While passing through dense forest, one can see plenty of small waterfalls, streams on the way. There are a total of 3 to 4 streams like patches that you need to cross which will definitely give you a thrill.
In case you want to stay at the base village, villagers will definitely assist you. The entire trail is mostly open fields except for the last stretch of 300ft ascending to reach the waterfall.

Why visit Devkund?

  • Devkund is one of the few falls in Maharashtra which comes under the category of plunge falls and means the waterfall pouring a massive amount of water on the rocky surface underneath.
  • It is a confluence of three waterfalls and is said to be the origin of the Kundalika river.
  • Explore dense forest.
  • Located near the Andharban forest.
  • Visit Tamhini ghat.
  • View of Bhira dam backwaters.
  • You get to see lake, tall rocks, waterfalls, dense forest all in one place.

Things to do at Devkund?

Things to carry?

  • Raincoat/poncho
