Lavasa City- India’s mini Italy

The Indian city Lavasa is architecturally based on the Italian town Portofino. The city is beautifully designed and has picturesque landscapes for visitors including buildings, hotels, malls, and residential property. Lavasa has attracted visitors from all over the country to see this architectural marvel.

Lavasa city architecture

Colorful houses and lakeside promenade are the unique experiences you will get in Lavasa.

Colorful houses in Lavasa

Distance from Lavasa to Mumbai

It is approximately 181 km away from Mumbai and is situated in Mose Valley in Pune. The drive during monsoon gives breathtaking views of Western Ghats. So its a 4 hours drive from Mumbai and 2 hours from Pune.

Things to do:

Thrilling Adventures

If you are looking for some thrilling adventure and adrenaline rush activities then X-thrill academy Lavasa is the ideal place. You can engage in Rappelling, rock climbing, campfire, jungle trek, valley crossing, and lot more. Moreover, you can also stay in the cottage at the cliffside and enjoy an amazing valley view.

If you are not interested in all of this, you can just enjoy the nature trails, gardens, and breathtaking valley view with clouds overshadowing the entire place.

Lakeside promenade

In the center of the city, you can find these lakeside promenades with lots of food options. Believe me, by seeing these colorful buildings, the city can be mistaken for a European town.

Nature site

During monsoon, the city is not less than a paradise. The entire valley is overshadowed with clouds. Wake up early to a beautiful sunrise to appreciate the beauty of this place.

Temghar dam

Enjoy bhutta along with tea/coffee on your visit to the dam. For those visiting Lavasa, Temghar dam must be on the wish list.

Lakeshore water sports

Enjoy jet-skiing, Kayaking, and pedal boats. It’s an ideal place to spend some time with your special ones and is a perfect romantic spot.

Is Lavasa Worth a visit weekend destination?

The town of Lavasa is worth a visit and gives you a feeling of being in a foreign country. It’s really impressive the way they have designed the entire city. Though the place looks amazing throughout the year, it’s best to visit during monsoon as the entire city is overshadowed with clouds.

Since it was heavily raining by the time we were leaving Lavasa, we had a beautiful view of the lush green valley. Monsoon intensifies the beauty of Lavasa.

City also has a lighthouse from where one can get a lovely view of the city and the lake.

How to reach?

By cab/car: We did Zoomcar and drove from Mumbai on to the lovely road heading to Lavasa. Mumbai to Lavasa is approx 181 km.

By Flight: One can opt for Mumbai or Pune airport. Pune is nearest though, 65 km from Lavasa. Further, hire a cab or take the bus.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Pune. Make sure you book tickets early for comfortable travel. Cab or buses are available from there.

Best time to visit?

As per my experience, monsoon and winters are best. Monsoon offers an amazing view of the Western Ghats.

What to do?

Site seeing, beautiful lakes, sports activities, Temghar dam, Adventure sports, visit Bamboosa to shop beautiful bamboo crafts.
