Where is Sarahan?
Sarahan is a small town in Himachal Pradesh. It is known for the site of the famous Bhimkali Temple – one of the 51 shakti peeth in the country.
Located around 180 km Shimla, it is believed to be the oldest living place in Himachal, with its names, mentioned several times in Puranas.
Stay options in Sarahan?
In sarahan, there are few homestays or hotels available. Most of them are quite far from Bhimkali Temple, with only a few close to the temple. The most famous is Hotel Shrikhand, which is right opposite the temple. But since it was a bit pricey, we looked for other options and found a budget property at around 500m from Bhimkali Temple. Let’s review the same in this post !!!
Review of Homestay
We found this place on Airbnb, it was located right next to Bhimkali Temple and Sarahan’s main market. We had a single room for ourselves, on the first floor. Our main preference was having a good internet connection, walking distance connectivity to the temple, and most importantly budget. And this place fitted in all these aspects so it was a great deal for us.
Food
There was no attached kitchen, but a shared one. We never felt the need to cook because the home-cooked food provided by them was quite delicious. The package that we took from them was including 3 times meals so overall it was a great deal. But still using their shared kitchen was allowed, in case some want to use it.
View from homestay
Since the room was on the first floor, we had a nice mountain view right from our window. During winters, the view would be even more amazing with snow everywhere. The terrace was also accessible, and you will have an even better view from there.

There are lots of options to explore within walking distance from the homestay. Bhimkali temple is around 500 m walking and Sarahan local market is around 200 meters. Do not forget to buy some handmade stuff from the local market.
