How to Reach Sangla Valley
During our 15-days Kinnaur trip, Day 8 we traveled to Sangla from Sarahan(Gateway to Kinnaur). Sarahan to Sangla is around 83 km and it takes around 3 hours. The route upto Sangla is mixed of good, bad and bumpy roads. On this route, you will get a chance to pass through the conic Kinnaur rock bridge. Do not forget to stop and click a picture under the bridge.
Stay in Sangla
During our 2 day trip to Sangla, we stayed at Hotel Rock view. This hotel is in Kappu village of Tukpa Valley which is among the most beautiful valley in the country. The owner of this hotel was quite helpful in arranging a taxi upto Chitkul. The view from the balcony was truly awesome, surrounded by rocky mountain on one side and snow capped on the other. We strolled in the whole village, explored every nook and corner and in my experience, it was one of the best you can do being in Sangla.
What to do in Sangla
Visit Chitkul
Chitkul is the last inhabited village on Indo Tiber Road and one of the most magical place you can visit in your lifetime. It is advisable to hire local taxi which charges around 1500 Rs, to visit Chitkul because road condition is quite bad at some places.
Explore Tukpa Valley and Kappu village
The best way to explore any place is on foot and this is exactly what we did in Sangla. Entire village was full of greenrey and apple orchards. If you are visiting in right season, you might as well get a chance to taste fresh apples. Our homestay was in Kappu village.
Kamru fort
This fort is perfect place to get glimpse of artistic leagcy of past. The fort is now converted to a temple and is dedicated to Kamakhaya devi.
Batseri Village
It is around 8 km from Sangla and is quite famous for woolen shawls, caps and other local items
Apple farms
Right behind our homestay was the huge apple farms, and it was one of the best experience of being in Sangla. In entire village everywhere you will see apple orchards. During our visit, entire valley was on the shades of yellow, orange and green and looked totally breathtaking.
